Course Details

A pathway for young people whose priority is to develop their independence, employability, personal and social skills so that they are ready to engage in the world of work.

Students will be:

  • working at Entry Level 2/3
  • be able to meet mature behavioural expectations at college
  • demonstrate some level of independence on and off the campus
  • have basic problem solving skills
  • be willing to try new activities and challenges

There will be a range of individualised programmes within this Pathway which will primarily be dependent on readiness to engage with employment.

Participation in work related experience and vocational taster activities may form part of the individualised programmes.

Entry requirements

- Previously educated in Special School, Special Provision in mainstream setting or PRU

- Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP)

- Participation in a pre-course Assessment Activity

- Participation in an individual Transition Programme as required

- Entry requirements for all Supported Learning programmes will include an assessment of prior and current behaviour to determine if this will affect the learning of others.

This course provides an excellent foundation for progression on to further studies in Supported Learning such as:

- A second year on Pathway to Employment (Year 2)

- Supported Internship
