Course Summary

Our A-Level in History will teach you how to gather and critically analyse information and sources, sort through facts and draw conclusions, argue your point whilst considering others and illustrate how past events influence what happens today. Students on our A-Level Programme take a minimum of 3 and maximum of 4 A-Level subjects so please apply for all the subjects you'd like to discuss at interview.

Course Details

Topics you will study include:

  • Britain, 1930 - 1997
  • The USA in the 19th Century: Westward Expansion and Civil War
  • Popular Culture and the Witch Craze

How will it be delivered and assessed?

There will be four examinations, ranging from 1-2 hours in length. You will also be required to write a topic based essay. You will be encouraged to develop critical and reflective thinking through group discussions, debates, lectures, essay writing, and case study work.

Entry requirements

For the generic A-Level Programme you will need

  • GCSE grade 4 or above in English Language and Maths, plus at least 3 more GCSEs at grade 5 or above

For this specific A-Level you will need

  • GCSE grade 4 or above in Maths, Grade 5 or above in English Language, History and at least 2 others at grade 5 or above
