This month is the launch of the new Diplomas for 14-19s.

The Diploma is an exciting qualification based on a hands-on style of learning. Diploma learners enjoy learning in different environments including the workplace, choosing to study subjects that interest them and tackling challenging projects.

Diplomas are available at 3 different levels- Foundation, Higher and Advanced - to suit different levels of ability.

In Norfolk, young people are just starting Diplomas in Construction and the Built Environment in Norwich and North Norfolk, and also Creative and Media in Norwich.

New A levels

There's also some changes to A levels starting this month. Before, A levels were divided into 6 modules; from this year they're split into just 4 modules. Also there's a new A* grade for the best A level results.

New qualifications for September 2009

There's more new qualifications starting next year - you can start applying for them now using help you choose. Look out for:

• More Diploma subjects - Business, Administration and Finance, Engineering, Environmental and Land-based Studies, Hair and Beauty Studies, Hospitality, Information Technology, Manufacturing and Product Design and Society, Health and Development.
• The new AQA Baccalaureate available at Dereham Sixth Form and Thorpe St Andrew High School.
