Foundation Learning

Foundation Learning (FL) is for learners who may not be ready for GCSEs, a Diploma or an Apprenticeship. Foundation Learning can help you improve your skills and experiences.

What qualifications are in Foundation Learning?

Foundation Learning is made up of three types of qualification:

  • Vocational Learning in job areas like administration, sports, retail, motor vehicle maintenance, health and beauty, horticulture and many more…
  • Personal and Social Development such as team-building skills, developing self-confidence and problem-solving.
  • Functional Skills – basic skills in English, maths and ICT.

You may complete qualifications in all three of these areas, or you may focus on just one or two.

What qualifications you take will depend on you and where you want to get to – you and your tutor will decide together when you start Foundation Learning.
