This is a post-graduate qualification- in other words, you will need to have achieved an honours degree before you can be accepted.
Usually known as a PhD, a doctorate is one of the highest academic qualifications you can earn (there are also Higher Doctorates awarded by some universities). A doctorate can be gained in a wide range of disciplines in the sciences and humanities and involved producing a substantial piece of original research work known as a thesis.
A doctorate usually takes two or three years, which may not necessarily be straight after you graduate with your first degree.
