HNDs

In England, the HND (short for Higher National Diploma) is a BTEC qualification awarded by Edexcel. HNDs are roughly equivalent to second year of university or a Diploma of Higher Education.

An HND takes two years of full-time study, or one year full-time following successful completion of a Higher National Certificate (HNC); part-time study takes longer. It is quite common to "top up" an HND to a degree by taking extra modules afterwards.
