8. Volunteering and Gap Years
You may want to think about doing voluntary work or taking a 'gap year', between your sixth form or college studies and starting higher education (HE) or work.
If this is something you're considering, make sure you:
- think about what you want to do and achieve during the year
- investigate the range of possible opportunities - look at the pages linked to below for inspiration
- if you want to go on to HE afterwards, remember to apply - you can apply for deferred entry this year, or be prepared to apply independently during your gap year
