Whatever your plans for the future, it's a good idea to understand what types of career opportunities may exist once you leave education.
This may seem a long way off at the moment, but there is information available about what's happening in the world of work right now, as well as predictions about what will happen in the future. This information is called labour market information or 'LMI'.
Did you know it's predicted that, by 2018, there'll be an increase of 3.6% in total jobs available in Norfolk?
However, the increase in South Norfolk is likely to be much higher.
Only North Norfolk and Great Yarmouth are predicted to have fewer jobs in 2018 than there are now.
Lots of up-to-date LMI for your area is available on the Norfolk LMInet website.
LMI tells us that in Norfolk renewable energy is likely to contribute to a growth in construction and engineering.
Healthcare is also likely to be an area of significant growth, predicted for a rise in staffing levels by 2018.

In contrast, there is likely to be a decline in the people employed in trade services such as estate agencies, recruitment agencies and retailing.
The predictions indicate that, in 2018, there will be a 4% drop in the number of jobs available for those with no qualifications, but only a 2% drop in jobs available for those who have achieved Level 2.
It is also predicted that there will be a massive increase of 9% in the number of jobs available to graduates (people who have a higher education degree).
