Summer 2008 saw Norwich's streets come alive with a vivid parade of creatively decorated elephants - with Aimhigher's Aimee, Mimosa, Star and Hundertbow taking part.
We recently invited Aimhigher school pupils to submit their images of Norfolk for our 2009 calendar competion - you can see the fabulous results here!
"My name is Lisa Atthowe and I am the Aimhigher Officer for Central Norfolk. I work with schools from all corners of the city from Earlham to Thorpe St Andrew and Hellesdon to Notre Dame. The central area already has a number of school clusters and partnerships including the Kett Sixth Form, Wensum Partnership and the Open Opportunities Network. I work with these partnerships alongside individual school sixth form centres and local higher education institutions.
Having lived in Norwich all my life, I have always studied locally myself. I completed my A levels at Thorpe St Andrew Sixth Form and recently graduated from UEA with a First Class Hons BSc in Psychosocial Sciences. I am familiar with the range of courses available from local HEIs and how each offers a distinct learning experience. My role as an Aimhigher officer allows me to share my experiences and knowledge with younger students to help them with their progression choices.
Many of my schools have already participated in Aimhigher activities such as university taster visits, science days and drama performances on progression routes. I am keen to help organise events for individual or groups of schools and sixth forms. If you have an idea for an event that will inspire your students, please get in touch so we can make it happen."
